But you're no slouch, either, because there's tons of weaponry around that you can't resist picking up. Not superfluous will be and medical kits. Just be quick - they disappear after a while, and other pilots can pick them up first.
The Flight Map will show you where nearby useful gizmos are available, and the locations of other players you can either dodge, accept or impose air combat on.
