Forsaken World: Ragnarok game review

This summer and fall a surprisingly large number of excellent and at the same time classic MMORPGs were released - among them Tarisland, Throne and Liberty and, in fact, Forsaken World: Ragnarok. The first two, of course, are now more on the rumor, but also the project of the Chinese studio 1000 Fruit Games attracts attention. Including in Russia, which became the first country of global release for the new Chinese MMORPG. What does Forsaken World: Ragnarok have to offer and what can we boast about?

About the setting and the plot

First of all, it is also a very spectacular and beautiful game - in this component it is only slightly inferior to Tarisland and Throne and Liberty, if at all. In addition to the picturesque landscapes and epic architecture, there are very spectacular videos that constantly accompany the story. The story itself, let's be honest, is not the most outstanding, but in the MMORPG genre it is not the most important thing. The main thing is that it is there and allows you to travel quite quickly, with the benefit of almost all available regions of this large world.

The action unfolds in a typical fantasy setting, where Vikings, giants, humans, elves and representatives of other races live, where next to mortals walk gods, kings and queens. And where, naturally, good fights with evil, which is constantly building new intrigues. And we act as a mercenary (or mercenary), which not only helps in this fight, but also plays almost the main role.
It starts with us preventing an assassination attempt on a local queen, and then at some point we save one of the local goddesses as well. During the break we look for important artifacts or information about them, travel to different regions and countries, help local rulers to cope with disasters, gather heroes for an important battle or recall ourselves, interrupt treacherous rituals and everything like that.

The activities are quite predictable, but the abundance of spectacular videos and events still don't let you get bored. There are epic battle scenes, quite unexpected dramatic turns, when, for example, the mysterious partner turns out to be a goddess or villains try to take control of the queen. Some characters change as the story develops - in one chapter we fought shoulder to shoulder and had the best opinion of him, and in the next we find ourselves in his homeland, where he appears as a capricious and unpleasant tyrant, whom the people, let's say, dislike.
There was also a place for humor. When one of the quests we come to the wharf to go together with other heroes to save the goddess, we see them standing in a queue and unhappily murmuring - well, how long do we have to wait for this ship? The variety of presented locations and regions is also pleasant - from a snowy valley, where local Vikings and giants live, we can get to a shining heavenly temple, a lively capital city or a local variation of Japan.

And these journeys take place almost in the format of an interactive movie. Many MMORPGs today include an automatic mode from the start, in which the hero himself runs on quests and fights, but in Forsaken World: Ragnarok it is realized almost better than any other - at the press of a button the character does everything himself, quickly and conveniently, sits on a horse or other riding animal - and, most importantly, does not get stuck anywhere.

About the game modes

Why is it good, because it is better to play the games yourself? Because the story in such MMOs, as it should, performs the function of an extended tutorial. And this interactive movie format allows us to quickly, efficiently and conveniently familiarize us with various mechanics of the game, its lore and world. At the same time, we still do something ourselves - in particular, we make decisions on character development and equipment upgrading.

Well, and when in other modes and situations we face more difficult opponents or even more so when we take part in battles between players, we naturally have to turn off the automatic mode and fight on our own. You can quite flexibly customize how your character will fight on autopilot, but in any case he won't be able to dodge area attacks by himself and in principle move competently around the battlefield.
And Forsaken World: Ragnarok has all kinds of modes and challenging trials. There are dungeons, and several types of towers of trials, where you need to pass floor by floor, fighting with strong enemies and bosses, and fights with the world bosses, and space for fights between players, including zones with open PvP, arenas and battlefields. On the spot, of course, guilds with their own advantages, special tasks, useful pumpable buildings, ratings and ranks - of course, there is also a global guild war.

But in addition to traditional for the genre entertainment found a place in Forsaken World: Ragnarok and for its own interesting findings. For example, the functions "Personal Leader" and "Field Leader" allow you to move to a separate arena at any time to challenge a single boss or to fight with several bosses in succession. The main thing is that the level of combat power of your character roughly corresponds to the enemy - otherwise they won't let you in. In addition, the developers made a special emphasis on the social component, so there are a lot of entertainment, allowing players to communicate, answer questions about the game lore, pass puzzles and participate in mini-games.

About heroes and pumping

Naturally, the heart of any MMORPG is the characters themselves and their pumping. In Forsaken World: Ragnarok the heroes are divided into 6 classes. Paladin, Magic Hunter, Magical Swordsman and Blood Ranger are melee fighters. But they use different weapons (the hunter, for example, has a two-handed sword, and the swordsman has paired blades) and fulfill different roles.

The Paladin, armed with a shield and hammer, doesn't deal much damage himself, but he does a great job of protecting and supporting his allies, so he's quite difficult for beginners to master and is mostly suitable for group play only. The swordsman, on the other hand, is capable of dealing heavy damage and can play the role of a "tank" for a group if possible. Especially interesting is the Blood Ranger, who can use his two-handed scythe to replenish health at the expense of the damage inflicted on enemies. However, to do this, you need to put together rather long combinations of blows and moves, which is not so easy for beginners.
The Warlock and the Musketeer specialize in long-range attacks. The former, understandably, being frail and possessing weak armor, furiously darts from afar with spells of different schools, burning and freezing enemies on the approach to him. Musketeer does about the same thing with two muskets. He makes up for the weakness of his armor with his agility and nimbleness.

As in most of these games, from the very beginning we start to get experience, all kinds of materials and rewards that allow you to quickly pump up characters, their skills and talents. And soon you will reach somewhere between 60-70 levels. But don't worry - the game, in fact, it's just the beginning, new opportunities and difficult challenges like "Lionheart Expedition", where we are opposed by especially clever bosses using real combat data. And in the first serious PvP challenge, you'll see that players of level 120 and above are right next to you, and their combat power is many times higher than yours.
To raise your combat power allows a huge number of different types of equipment - especially valued red and gold, which is best worn in sets, getting bonuses for them. In addition, there is a lot of magical equipment, which allows you to use powerful spells and summon allies on the battlefield. All equipment can be pumped in a bunch of different ways and materials, created, synthesized and encrusted with gems. There are also magical companion spirits, wings, crests, riding animals and many other things that can and should be improved. And here again we must say about the convenience of the automatic mode in the game - all of the above can be done literally in one click. This is especially valuable when playing on mobile devices.
As for monetization and donation, it's just like everywhere else these days. There is a built-in store, from which regularly fall "hot offers", but also we are constantly thrown a huge number of free rewards - and up to the same level 70 you can easily pump up without investing a penny. Well, and then it all depends on your desires and opportunities.

Conclusion

Forsaken World: Ragnarok is a very beautiful, spectacular and diverse game with a lot of modes, classes and opportunities to pump and socialize. One of its main features is maximum dynamics and convenience according to the principle of step-by-step, and in this case clickable accessibility: many things can be done literally in one click.
