A major Dota 2 update has been released

Dota 2 is one of those representatives of the MOBA genre, whose rules seem to be forever carved in granite - everyone is so used to the map and the mechanics associated with it. However, patch 7.38 introduces radical changes - suffice it to say that the developers have increased the amount of water on the familiar terrain, redesigned the properties of creeps and made Roshan wander from place to place. And that's just a part of all the rearrangements made by Valve employees.

The main innovation was the redesign of the riverbed that cuts the map diagonally - it's no coincidence that the update was named "Free Waters". If earlier the water body served only as a barrier separating one team from another, now it is a more meaningful thing. The lowlands on both banks are now flooded, which should have an impact on the course and dynamics of the battle. Characters going with the current get a bonus of acceleration, whereas running against the current of water will slow anyone down. The floods have also brought new creatures to the forest, as if they came out of Howard Lovecraft's books. They evolve from tadpoles into quagmires and then quakuns, meaning they become stronger during the course of the match.

The runes of wisdom have been replaced by altars, next to which the heroes gain experience for themselves and their comrades. The main difference is that the altar will not work if an enemy is nearby - you will have to wait for the moment or clear your path. Roshan is now a river dweller, and in addition he wanders up and down the riverbed, dealing damage to all creatures he encounters. In other words, messes on the shore have become more dangerous - what if the most dangerous monster in the game suddenly shows up and radically changes the balance of power? A lot of changes have been made to the landscape details and character properties. More details can be found on the official website.
