Active Search has begun in War Thunder
War Thunder, an online wargame about military combat on land, in the air and at sea, has received its second major update for this year. The add-on called "Active Search" adds several types of vehicles to the game, including a collection of aircraft made in the Netherlands and Belgium, air-to-air missiles with a targeting system, as well as redesigned cockpits of helicopters and changes in gameplay. Here's a closer look at what Gaijin Entertainment has in store for fans in the summer of 2024.
Let's start with the additions to the hangars. High-flying fans will be able to experience fresh fighters and bombers from all branches of research. There are Soviet Su-27SM, British Sea Harrier FA 2 and Tornado F.3 Late, American F-15C MSIP II and AV-8B Plus, German F-4F KWS LV and Chinese PL-12. But the biggest expansion of choice has come from France, from 1930s models to jets like the Mirage 5BA. The air force is also now using active radar-guided missiles, which will be useful in battles under the clouds against skittish opponents.
From the ground armored vehicles it is worth mentioning the Leopard 2A4M CAN tank, Soviet T-80U-E1, British BMP Desert Warrior and Chinese APC ZSL92. In helicopters, cockpits have been finalized - they have more instruments and details, including interactive sensors. This is unlikely to help in combat, but it will add realism for sure. Finally, the fleet has been replenished, including the German ship Bernau, armed with an anti-aircraft system "Strela-2M". As for locations, two maps became available with the update: "Mysterious Valley" for air battles and "Bering Sea" for fleet matches. The developers reported about the interface edits, models of crew members and mechanics of their treatment.
