Rust smells like baked goods and something else

Facepunch studio has announced details of the first March update for its multiplayer survival simulator Rust. This time the developers focused on food and everything related to it: they added ovens, mini-beds for growing herbs, chicken coops, meat grinders, beehives and, of course, a lot of recipes, including bread and pies. But that's not all - next week the game will see the introduction of premium servers so that decent gamers can have fun away from the bullies.

Virtual cooking fans now have a workbench for cooking. It includes a brick oven, a couple of burners and a minimal set of utensils. Here you can fry, boil, bake - in general, cook to the fullest. Each type of food increases the character's characteristics, so food recipes are sometimes as useful as blueprints of equipment items. But proper cooking requires ingredients. Meat and eggs can be obtained, for example, in the chicken coop, where the birds have improved appearance and animation. For honey extraction nothing prevents to place beehives on the base, wheat for flour will give a homestead field, and corn or potatoes are easy to grow on a triangular bed right at home.

But this coin has a flip side: now food in the game spoils over time, so there is no point in mindlessly piling up supplies. Pieces of meat left near the grill will go bad in six hours if they're not cooked. Grilled steaks will last a little longer without refrigeration - 24 hours - but will still go rotten. What's also interesting is that bees now provide more than just honey. If you find a wild hive, you can put the insects in a jar and then use it as a grenade. Of course, the patch did not do without paid items. There is good news for fans of such content: if your inventory is valued at 15 or more dollars, you will be allowed to enter the premium server for free, where there are no cheaters.
