The cloud has dissolved: Google is shutting down the Stadia project

It would seem that only recently cloud gaming was the talk of the town. You can play anything you want on any device, even a ten-year-old PC, and remote servers will take care of all the complicated calculations. All you need for this technology is stable and fast Internet. One of the most significant projects in this area was the Google Stadia platform. The other day, representatives of the company took away the last hope from owners of outdated computers.

Project general manager Phil Garrison addressed the users of the cloud platform. He said that Stadia never gained the necessary popularity with users, although it was a technological marvel of its time and even had the support of internal game studios. True, they closed back in February 2021. But the achievements of specialists will not be wasted: they will be used in the future on YouTube, Google Play and other services of the American corporation. And Stadia will be closed, as sad as it is to announce this to one of its executives.

Harrison also assured users that they will be reimbursed for all purchases for Stadia made in the Google Store, including games and add-ons. At that, the cloud entertainment library will be available to gamers until January 18, 2023, when the platform will finally cease to exist. The company expects that by that time all returns will be made and no one will have any complaints.
