Facepunch has released a major patch for its multiplayer open world survival simulator. The developers have changed shooting, some objects, military equipment, character models, battle conditions and even underwater battles in the game. It's high time to tell about these and other improvements of the game in more detail.

What's changing in Rust in May 2024?

The main point of application of efforts became shooting. The thing is that using weapons on the move was not very convenient, so the accuracy of aiming is now better. Firing at enemies on the run is still not as easy as fighting back from cover, but still, tactical maneuvers do not put you in a completely disadvantageous position. The negative effects of the muzzle brake and other barrel attachments have also been reduced, and the holographic sight blurring has been fixed. At the same time, the fortification mechanics in PvP fights have been improved: it's now easier to quickly place a gate or fence (no need to wait for a second and a half), and the barricade has been doubled in size, although its effectiveness in terms of bullet defense is still average.

The fight with scientists on the BMP "Bradley" increased in dynamism due to the fact that the number of arriving enemies depends on the armored vehicle's health. If there are 80% left, two people appear, if 60% - four, and at 40% - six. Fixed the conditions of fights with the patrol helicopter, underwater you can now use points, and torpedoes from submarines hit surface targets more accurately. Minor edits have been made to the base construction, while the price of unlocking items in the technology tree now depends on their level - the progression has been made slower. The rest of the patch details concern minor edits (including AI work), model and map rendering.
