Fortnite has become an Olympic sport
The International Olympic Committee together with the National Olympic Committee of Singapore (SNOC) included the popular "Battle Royale" Fortnite in the list of cyber sports disciplines in 2023. The decision was initiated by the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF). Champions of the game will take part in the week of cybersports, which will be held from 22 to 25 June in Suntec Center complex in Singapore. It's all about tournaments for professional gamers - further competitions and awards await the winners.
Fortnite and other cyber sports at the Olympics
This year, Epic Games' multiplayer action game will enter the Olympics in the company of ten other disciplines. Among them - racing, presented by the game Gran Turismo 7, martial arts in the form of Virtual Taekwondo and dancing, for which Just Dance 2023. Also among the virtual competitions included archery, tennis, chess, cycling and sailing regatta. All of them, of course, are presented in the form of video games, and the tournaments on them are divided into four days - in the final, which falls on Sunday, the last matches will be held, the winners will be determined and prizes will be awarded.
As for Fortnite itself, reporters have learned that the map was selected for the battle in Singapore Creative Island, and participate in a shootout will be the 12 strongest players. Organizers of the event said that it will be held in offline format - with broadcasting on TV and streaming platforms. The price of a day ticket for regular spectators and fans has also been made public - just under $8.
