More hardcore: PvP arenas appeared in Elden Ring

Battles between gamers are now designed differently than in Hidetaka Miyazaki's games. Users can not only interfere in each other's sessions, but also challenge their opponents in special arenas, where there are no monsters or other difficulties affecting the fairness of the duel. One-on-one or group-on-group only - tell us more about how that works.

New multiplayer format in Elden Ring

Miyazaki's characteristic way of adding a multiplayer mode is known even to those unfamiliar with the developer's work. The essence is as follows: one player simply bursts into the session of another to help or hinder him. In Elden Ring the game designer decided to do it in a more traditional way - he added arenas on the locations of Limgrave, Leindell and Caelid. With the Colosseum update anyone can enter the arena and fight a duel or compete as part of a team, as seen in the trailer. At the same time, the traditional multiplayer in the Souls series style is not going anywhere.

According to Polygon, the ground for the Colosseum has been prepared back in October, when the patch appeared 1.07, which contains a special scaling of weapon damage in PvP. Thanks to this, equipment can be configured separately for single-player and battles with other gamers. Add-on, which adds arenas to the world of the game, was released on December 7. It is available for free to all Elden Ring users on all platforms, including PC and current consoles.
