A good old-school shooter is coming to Steam

Long before the Halo and Destiny series, Bungie was famous for releasing Marathon games specifically for Apple computers. If the main competitor of this action movie, Doom from id Software, was made for DOS, then "Marathon" in 1994 worked exclusively on Mac. Since then, a lot of water has passed - the shooter got sequels and fan modifications, got support for all operating systems, including mobile, but only fans remember it now. Nevertheless, its classic version will soon become available in Steam for free.

The action takes place in the year 2794. The spaceship Marathon arrives in the Tau Kita system to establish a human settlement there. But after a while the colonists are attacked by monsters belonging to a race unknown to science. You, as a security officer, need to deal with these creatures with the help of guns from the ship's arsenal. In the fight the hero is helped by the artificial intelligence of the starship, divided into three entities and able to control separate compartments. But, reinterpreting the famous saying, you can rely on AI, but you can't be too bad yourself - the gamer will need both marksmanship and reaction speed.

Of course, the Classic version is somewhat different from the original. Here, for example, there is support for widescreens and more than 60 frames per second, and at the same time provided positioning of sound effects. Since games from the first half of the 1990s are now painful to look at, the developers were forced to tighten up the technical part. Like in the 1994 action movie, there will be PvP-multiplayer with desmatch and cooperative mode, so everyone will be able to fight with friends like in the good old days.
