Not so long ago the battle between the Earthlings and the enemy civilization Insectus came to an end - more about that in Star Defender 3. But here you have a completely different battle waiting for you, although the restless enemies are still the same. Your fighter went to conquer new planets and meet new civilizations. Because of a black hole on the way you ended up in the Darkfog galaxy - that's where the evil insectoids continue to recruit an army for a renewed attack on Earthlings.

Once again you must rely only on your own forces, as the bases remain far away and there is no communication with the space port. The mission once again seems impossible, but you can do it. A small plus is that you can replenish your arsenal and armor right on the spot. Just don't be lazy to pick up the bonuses that are generously dumped out of destroyed enemy ships.

The game is divided into seven levels, in which you can improve the available weapons of the spaceship, both basic and additional. For example, if you upgrade the oxygen bomb, it can destroy an entire squadron of insectoids or make a hole in the most impenetrable armor. Your weapons have excellent defensive qualities - if you fail to dodge fire, your cannons will take the hit. They will lose some of their power, but they will save the ship.

Gradually you will penetrate into some of the mysteries of the planet you find yourself on. For example, you will learn that the local population has a negative attitude towards insectoids, so you can draw them to your side and join the ranks of the fighters. When the game is about to end, the battle will be fought in very harsh conditions - in the absence of light. So the help of the locals will be invaluable.

You will be able to fully enjoy all the varieties of combat as you traverse over a hundred levels and complete eight risky missions. The finale of each one is marked by a life-or-death battle with one of the leaders of the Insectus. The fourth part of Star Defender will not disappoint you, it corresponds to all the classic ideas of a high-quality shooter.
