In the small town of Everlake, it is rumored that children are disappearing in strange ways. A teacher, a little late for class, notices a missing girl, Amber. The child's ghost haunts the teacher and demands that she be found, because if the teacher had come to class on time, there would have been no kidnapping. Now the teacher has to become a detective!

The search for the child leads you to the sullen director of the local puppet theater, Henry Mason. His fate is tragic enough that it has made him an angry and depressed recluse. As you progress through this game, your diary will add entries with a history of your actions. In the diary, you can also record a list of tasks to be accomplished in the near future. From the first second you start the game, time begins to count down; if you manage to use all your deductive abilities, you can even set a record for investigating missing children!
