Dune: Awakening update released
Studio Funcom presented the expansion «Water Wars» for its online survival game about heroes on the desert planet Arrakis. From its title alone, it is clear what players will now have to do in Dune: Awakening. Gamers will face battles at an abandoned technological station controlled by water traders, the creation of their own servers, and an abundance of added items, including new types of armor, weapons, ornithopters, and building modules. However, it is worth noting that the DLC with content is paid — even despite the decline in the project's ratings on Steam.
What makes «Water Wars» interesting in Dune: Awakening?

The main novelty was personal servers, available for free to all game users. From now on, everyone can create their own world with a full-fledged map, setting any rules for it — for example, emphasizing PvP, disabling the Sandworm, focusing on building and gathering resources, and then inviting friends to the lobby. In the long term, the developers intend to improve the network code and simplify tasks for hosts, so for now the feature is presented in a test form. But the Water Wars content, upgrading the game to version 1.4, is already fully ready.
New points of interest have appeared on the map. The first is the «Wind Pass» center, formerly belonging to the Harkonnens. Now this location has become one of the water trading posts where Landsraad quests can be completed. Also, a testing station appeared in the old quarry, inside which enemies and their boss — Doctor Jalanta — are hiding. An important change in patch 1.4 was that PvP battles are now voluntary. No one will attack your hero without your consent. Finally, gamers will find a large set of items, including 52 building blocks, 18 decorations, armor and stillsuits, a rapier for close combat, and a beautifully designed ornithopter in the style of water traders.
