The appearance of seasons and an unusual bazaar in TESO

The developers of The Elder Scrolls Online decided to start 2026 with intriguing news. They are transitioning their game to a seasonal system (starting from zero), and also adding battle passes to it — «Tombs of Tamriel». Such innovations should change the monetization principles of the MMORPG — storylines, territories, characters, and dungeons will become free for everyone. On the other hand, along with the pass rewards promised for free, two more premium tiers have been announced, which will already require paying money. We tell in more detail what is known about the changes in TESO at the moment.

What does the seasonal system bring to The Elder Scrolls Online?

The update will be released as early as March, and starting April 2, the zero season will begin with a pass tied to it. The developers are announcing this in advance to explain to gamers the reasons for the changes: transitioning the MMORPG to three-month periods will allow ZeniMax employees to respond more quickly to user feedback — this will enhance feedback compared to the release of separate paid chapters. At the same time, each season will contain both story adventures, and trials with raids, and other activities. And already released DLC, including «Thieves Guild» and «Dark Brotherhood», along with the barely announced expansion «Greymoor», will be added to the base version of TESO. In addition, in April the quests of «Tombs of Tamriel» will start — completing them will bring progress points, which can be exchanged for cosmetic items for heroes.

Also promised are balance adjustments in classes with an emphasis on «pure» skills and a progression system with rewards. And for those who won't have time to collect all the rewards of «Tombs of Tamriel», the «Golden Coast Bazaar» will open its doors, where outdated reward items will be available for new types of currency, including trade bars. Such currency cannot be bought for crowns — only active gamers completing tasks will be able to obtain it. With the beginning of the second month of spring, they will have the opportunity to finally complete full collections.
