The free-to-play MMO game Star Conflict is being shut down

The multiplayer space action game by Star Gem (a division of the Russian company Targem) is a veteran of the genre — it recently celebrated its second decade. However, the developers intend to shut down Star Conflict after completing all summer activities. The game's features will be gradually disabled. Here's what is known at this moment, whether a refund of invested funds is planned, and what starship captains can do in anticipation of the finale.

More about the closure of Star Conflict in fall 2026

As is traditional for such events, Star Gem employees expressed gratitude to the 'strong and devoted' community. They explained their decision by the increasing complexity of developing and maintaining the project at the proper level, as well as a decrease in the active audience. Therefore, the MMO simulator will soon cease to exist. The shutdown will not be immediate: new account registration will end on May 14, monetization will be disabled on June 1, and the servers will become unavailable on October 10. Until that day, all main game functions will continue to work. And to keep players' spirits up, farewell summer activities have been announced.

Access to these activities will be free for everyone. Their main feature is the opportunity to receive all paid content ever released for the game during the season. Very generous rewards and a variety of modes are promised. At the end of summer, the release of any additional content will cease, and the Star Gem team's efforts will be focused on maintaining the servers. No compensation has been mentioned yet, but fans are advised to contact the support service directly — according to the official statement, no question will go unanswered.
