Announcement of a major update for Dune: Awakening
The year is coming to an end, but Funcom continues to work on developing its MMO game Dune: Awakening in the universe of Frank Herbert's «Dune». For the beginning of 2026, the release of two major updates is promised — fans are awaiting the continuation of the main storyline in «Chapter 3» and the DLC «Raiders of the Broken Lands», which will feature building modules, character appearance customization details, vehicles, and weapons. In the third chapter of the story, an expanded choice will appear at the sixth level. The developers are changing the Landsraad (this is something like a parliament in the game's universe) — as a result, factions will be given quests and rewards. Contracts will allow characters to acquire additional ranks, and there will be even more specializations. In addition, thrill-seekers will be offered five trial zones and just as many stations where they can find a lot of loot and engage in interesting battles with bosses. Equipment will be supplemented with an arsenal that includes an improved rapier, and four types of smuggler-style transport. And all gamers, of course, will receive the next chapter of the story.
The DLC, in turn, will be devoted more to content than to any stories. It will have 74 building elements for constructing personal and clan shelters, as well as smuggler armor and distikombs, raider weapons, seventeen decorative items, buggies, paint jobs, and emotes. According to Funcom employees, this is the largest update to the game since its release. The patch will be uploaded to the servers at the beginning of next year, and it will be made free. But if desired, it can be purchased as part of a bundle with other DLC for money.
