Counter-Strike 2 update released
Valve has released a 6.5 GB patch for its online shooter. It includes accessories for decorating weapons and fighters, as well as new community maps (the previous set has been removed), gameplay changes, unexpectedly spectacular character switching in spectator mode, and much more. Since such large updates for CS2 are rare, the current changes are worth discussing in more detail.
What changed in Counter-Strike 2 in October 2025?

Let's start with the arsenal fixes, mainly affecting rifles. The AUG, SG 553, and AWP have had their scope reticles refined, but if you prefer the old markings, you can easily revert them via the menu. There are also minor tweaks to the styling of the MAC-10 and R8 revolvers. As for weapon decorations, it's now complete freedom — the developers have added tons of keychains and charms. Anyone can hang an originally decorated «Dr. Boom» series frag grenade or a fun figurine from the «Missing Link» collection on the barrel — most accessories are based on ideas from regular users in the «Workshop». Interestingly, the keychains vibrate quite realistically when the character runs or simply walks.
Gamers can look forward to four new community maps: Golden and Palacio for «Competitive», «Casual», and «Deathmatch» modes, as well as Rooftop and Transit — for «Wingman» battles. Meanwhile, Jura, Grail, Dogtown, and Brewery have been removed from the game. Many shooter fans are familiar with spectator mode — when you're already out of the match but still watch events from another shooter's perspective on the map. The updated observation moves the camera in a cinematic style rather than abruptly switching from one viewpoint to another.
