Wardogs released — reviews are mixed

Developers from the company Bulkhead have been teasing the public for a long time with videos describing various nuances of their online shooter Wardogs and the results of closed beta tests. Now anyone interested can try the game — it has been released in early access on Steam. And the reviews, judging by the store's data, are currently mixed. At the same time, the authors are already saying that the shooter's sales exceeded one million copies in just one day. Among the criticism directed at the new release, there are complaints about bugs, paid options, a number of graphical shortcomings, poorly tuned sound, and problems with match creation.

Why should you pay attention to Wardogs?

The shooter offers a hundred gamers to battle on a shared map as part of three squads. The combat rules are combined arms. This means that not only infantry operates on the location, but also various vehicles, including tanks and helicopters. In addition, there is a mechanic for building and destroying fortifications, meaning there are neither completely reliable covers nor static decorations here: something on the terrain is constantly changing, adding variety to matches. The main mode is 'King of the Hill': on a huge map, a 2x2 km area is randomly selected, which one of the teams must take under control and hold for as long as possible, repelling opponents' attacks. Any of the three groups that first scores 100 points gets a victory in such a battle.

Just a day after the release, Bulkhead employees announced the sale of 1.25 million copies of the game, including, apparently, paid pre-orders. The peak of connections quickly reached 340,000 simultaneous connections, which caused problems with server operation. At the same time, the average rating on Steam changed from positive to mixed since launch — users note technical and gameplay problems. The authors of the shooter plan to add more types of weapons and armored vehicles.
