Kingmakers release delayed indefinitely
The cooperative action game from tinyBuild, dedicated to battles between medieval knights and modern soldiers armed with Kalashnikov rifles and grenade launchers, was originally planned for release on October 8 of this year. That was the date listed on the game's page on Steam. But the other day the developers announced that they can't finish the release on time, so the premiere will have to be postponed. For how long—no one knows yet, but it's definitely a delay, not a cancellation.
What's happening with the production of Kingmakers right now?

The idea, largely inspired by Mark Twain's novel «A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court», instantly won over the public. In the game, players were to take on the role of fighters armed with modern firearms, vehicles like cars and motorcycles, as well as support from jet fighters, to unleash all that power on hordes of knights with swords and shields. Destructible environments were meant to add depth to the gameplay—trailers show walls, ceilings, and entire towers collapsing. It was expected that the simulation of physics and sensible behavior for thousands of opponents would create interesting situations during every play session, but it seems the developers bit off more than they could chew.
In their message to the public, the project's authors said the undertaking turned out to be too ambitious for their actual capabilities. According to them, almost everything is ready, but it still needs polish. A half-hour video demonstrating what's already done will appear soon, but there's no word on specific dates yet. There's no need to be upset about this news, though. Anyone following tinyBuild's work should take a look at another cooperative action title—Sand. This is a steampunk-style adventure set in an alternate 1910. Heroes must survive in a desert and build huge walking bases. A playtest is happening right now—if you're interested, you can apply and take part.
