In No Man’s Sky, they improved… the entire space

The space sandbox by studio Hello Games has undergone numerous revisions over the past few years, but they concerned biomes and mechanics on planets. However, now the developers of No Man’s Sky have decided to radically improve and diversify the void between worlds and stars. The update named Cosmos added a number of objects to the game, including starship ruins, outposts, biologically contaminated objects, and stations — all of these can be found in advance on the galaxy map, so you don't have to wander around it blindly in search of points of interest.

Usually in science fiction, interstellar space is empty — only occasionally does an asteroid or a hero's ship fly through it. But the creators of NMS, as it turns out, hold a different opinion. They have added a number of extraplanetary objects that can be explored and even used for your own purposes. First on the list are ship hulls drifting in the vacuum — with the right skill, they can be dismantled for spare parts and resources. But if you act too roughly, something might explode. Next are outposts, where merchants will meet you and not only offer to sell you goods, but also tell you a lot of interesting things about the system you've arrived in, and also give you a couple of quests.

Objects subjected to biological contamination require special caution — hostile life forms inhabit them. Asteroid belts are a source of rare crystalline resources. Some boulders are so large that you can build a temporary shelter on them. And generally, building orbital bases is allowed anywhere — assemble whatever your imagination suggests from the modules. If you wish, you can simply buy a space station to, for example, turn it into a club and invite friends to an online party. Another option is to open the headquarters of your own alliance on it, and then send invitations to your acquaintances.

The new multiplayer expedition is called "Our Journey Continues!" — it consists of 40 stages and offers to recall one by one the changes from all the free DLCs released for the game. The developers call this activity a kind of museum of their achievements.
