Cooperative mode has finally been added to Minecraft
Mojang's inexhaustible creative sandbox Minecraft received its largest update in almost 15 years. Now the classic Java version of Minecraft has an official cooperative mode — gamers no longer need to use peer-to-peer services like Hamachi for connection. A friends list feature has also appeared. It's the perfect time to talk about all the changes in more detail.
What did the developers add to Minecraft version 26.2?

It seems Mojang has decided to seriously tackle the multiplayer aspect of their project. Just recently, the studio's employees presented an update for the online mode with the ability to share the brightest moments with loved ones. And in the May update, a connection option for cooperative play without servers appeared — on a peer-to-peer basis. Two connection methods are provided: you can invite a friend to your world or send a request to the host, who is then free to decline or accept the offer.
The "Friends List" feature simplifies creating joint sessions. By default, it can be opened by pressing the "O" key in the Latin keyboard layout. All items in this menu can be edited (deleted, added, grouped), and additionally, they carry status indicators — for example, you can see who is online and who is offline. The "In a joinable world" tag will be especially useful. In this case, it takes just one click to quickly start a cooperative session. One such session supports up to five simultaneous connections.
The update contains other changes as well, including added music tracks by fingerspit. The main menu has been fixed — according to Mojang representatives, it has become more convenient to use. A multitude of fixes is related to sulfur blocks, especially concerning the eruptions of sulfur geysers. More technical details can be found on the official website.
