The second season is about to start in Marathon
On June 2, an update for the fantastic extra-action shooter Marathon by Bungie will be released, marking the start of the next season, unlocking access to an unusual Runner shell and introducing the map 'Night Swamp' to users. Of course, the list wouldn't be complete without arsenal additions, an updated progression system, and other improvements, which the developers have detailed in full. Let's also find out what to expect from the first summer patch for the game.
What makes the content of Marathon's second season interesting?

Heroes in Runner shells continue to uncover the secrets of an alien planet on Tau Ceti IV. This time, they will have to act at night, when the atmosphere of horror thickens, and unknown creatures awaken in the swamps. But it is precisely in such conditions that everyone can show their character, and teams can demonstrate coordinated work. Equipment will have to be chosen specifically for hunting in the dark, and flashlights, glowing vector ammo, special sights, and signal flares will help leave the 'Night Swamp' on foot. There is also a new addition among the characters — the Sentinel has appeared. Its 'Defender' system, if placed correctly, will neutralize grenades and rockets flying at you. Also in its arsenal is a trap mine and a sensor that tracks enemies on the radar.
Among the weapons added to the action game, the KKV-9SD submachine gun with a built-in silencer, firing 1200 rounds per minute, and the D54 pistol are worthy of attention — it will save you at close range when other guns fail. The secret of this barrel is in firing short bursts of three bullets. The 'Cradle' system will be responsible for the development of heroes' skills. As many gamers already know, in 'Marathon', it is not humans who go on raids, but androids printed on a special printer controlled by living pilots. The tissue threads of such Runners are spun by worms, which will now be allowed to be given special parameters in order to get the desired result at the output — for example, making the hero stronger or more agile.
Fans of the game will be pleased to know that the developers are bringing back the 'Duo' mode and will continue experimenting with PvE content. In addition, everyone will be able to log into Marathon from the 2nd to the 9th of this month in free access mode. But free does not mean free of charge. Access can only be activated with a paid console subscription.
