Winter Festival has started in Fortnite

Before the holidays, Epic Games employees have been generous with gifts for everyone who plays the «battle royale» Fortnite. Developers have already added a Kim Kardashian character skin to the game, and also showed what the collaboration of their work with the BLEACH universe will look like. But these cosmetic changes were not the main event of December — the Winter Festival will last until the fifth of next month, which will allow users to receive gifts and style their heroes in a New Year's theme or, for example, dress them in the uniform of any magic school from «Harry Potter».

Snow has fallen on the «battle royale» island, the branches of the Golden Shore's palms have been decorated with shimmering garland lights, and the heroes have received their gifts — and will be able to unpack them further until January 5. Opening the boxes, you will find equipment sets inside, including Sabrina Claus, Snow Miku, and Ice Crash gear, as well as attire in the style of Hogwarts houses — Slytherin, Gryffindor, and Hufflepuff. In total, for the duration of this promotion, each gamer receives 14 festive packages to then open one per day. Besides skins, the sets can contain separate accessories — for example, a baseball bat (pickaxe) styled in a New Year's theme or an electric guitar, and also back bling like «Joyful Penguin».

Developers also report that the game's text chat has gone beyond its limits — now it can be used as a regular messenger available on all devices supporting the proprietary client and Epic Games Store. Even on smartphones and tablets — the app has already been released for devices running iOS, and in January it will be launched for Android as well. At the same time, it is noted that the chat will still support reporting and parental control systems.
