A new event is coming soon to Apex Legends

The developers at Respawn Entertainment rarely delight the public with major updates for the battle royale Apex Legends. But this time, gamers can expect quite a few changes: starting June 24, the Future Icons event will kick off with ability-free duels, alongside promised balance adjustments, unique rewards, and bug fixes. The activities will last exactly until the middle of the next month. Here’s what you can expect to do in the vibrant online shooter in the near future and what rewards await you for your achievements.

A limited-time mode called «Arenas» has been added to the game, where only two heroes face off. During the duel, they cannot use their special abilities or heal—only movement skills and weapon handling determine the winner. But that’s not all: the matches are structured as a series of thirty battles with ranking placements. The legend, spawn location, and gear are randomly selected—so you won’t be able to pick a character you’re already comfortable with. This format will be available until July 15. As rewards, participants can earn up to 1,400 special coins per day, which can then be exchanged for something valuable. Specifically—skins for Rampart, Octane, and Peacekeeper, as well as character and weapon cosmetics.

Balance changes are complemented by new items—for example, a gadget with dual healing has been introduced, and electric doors have been buffed. However, some characters were nerfed rather than buffed. For instance, Ash was affected—the developers stated they removed certain aspects that made her frustrating to play against. Additionally, the recoil of the Havok assault rifle has been improved, headshot damage from the Skullpiercer marksman weapon has been reduced, and the Mastiff shotgun’s firing animation has been adjusted so the crosshair recenters faster. Finally, Respawn has announced improved graphics optimization for PCs.
