Valve has made an important announcement for gamers who use computers with Microsoft operating systems. There are at least two reasons for this decision. The first one is related to the decline of users' interest in the outdated OS: according to statistics collected in March 2023, Windows 10 (62.33%) is more frequently encountered on gamers' computers, followed by the eleventh version with an index of 32%, and the seventh and eighth "windows" in total - about 2%. As you can see, the number is insignificant. The second (and the main) reason for cancellation of support is that the developers of Steam explain the new features of the store are based on the built-in version of Google Chrome browser, which is poorly compatible with Windows 7 and 8. In addition, do not forget about the security patches that are currently released only for systems from "10" and above.

In an official appeal to the public said that since January 1, 2024 Steam client will no longer run on computers with outdated operating systems. In this case, the account and all the games on it will remain the property of the store user - you will not take anything away. To regain access to your collection, you will need to update your operating system to a more up-to-date build.
