Star Trek Online Celebrates Its 16th Anniversary

Fans of the «Star Trek» universe are celebrating two dates this year: exactly 60 years ago, Gene Roddenberry created the science fiction TV series, with Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner in the lead roles, and 16 years ago, gamers were able to go where no man has gone before. Since MMORPG Star Trek Online has reached such a respectable milestone, its developers have introduced the 16th Anniversary Bundle expansion with four new starships — they are already available on PC, but will only appear on consoles on April 7. In addition, an educational video reviewing the history of shipbuilding and the «Star Trek» galaxy has been released.

The first of the new starships presented is the NP Miracle Worker, created by Federation engineers and featured in the series «Star Trek: Enterprise». It is available in two variants, including the 24th-century Ortiz. The second vessel is the Andorian Kumari Pilot battle cruiser, shown in a whole array of variations. Among them are the 25th-century Talas with and without markings, as well as the Stalking Makras. Third in line is the military-research cruiser in the «Enterprise» style, also available in the «Interceptor» design. Closing the parade of novelties is the Vulcan Suurok Intel Science Destroyer. Like all inventions of Spock's compatriots, this destroyer is reliable and high-tech.

Fans of shootouts on the surfaces of unexplored worlds can arm themselves with the MACO phaser pistol, which emits blue pulses. It is more rapid-firing than standard phasers, allowing it to affect three opponents at once, though its primary mode of operation is stunning. Also worth noting are the «Enterprise»-class suits — such a spacesuit will allow the hero to survive in any conditions, be it an icy planet or the vacuum of space. The collection is complemented by ship upgrades and technologies, and modifications can be purchased with the in-game currency Zen.
