Star Citizen authors make an authoritarian metropolis

Company Cloud Imperium Games announced a patch 3.19 for the world's most expensive space MMORPG - it's already a year stomping on the stage of testing and never gets to the full release. But this does not prevent the developers to come up with new objects and activities for the ambitious project. This time the changes will affect a large city called Lorville.

How will Star Citizen change in version 3.19?

Lorville is a metropolis in the Stanton system, built with funds from the Hurston family. A monument to the city's founder is erected right in the center. An authoritarian regime in the style of Orwell's novel 1984 reigns here, and the design of the neighborhoods is inspired by the Ridley Scott film Blade Runner. In the landing zone, travelers will find resting places, hospitals and missions to perform in different parts of the galaxy. Even as they land, pilots can see the central business district, where transit lines take them to any neighborhood. There is a division into classes of inhabitants: some live richly and some are poor, which is also noticeable by the decoration of the buildings.

The former neighborhoods, already familiar to users, have remained virtually unchanged. But the developers increased the size of buildings, added more smog to emphasize the pollution of the atmosphere, infrastructure facilities and peripheral neighborhoods, including industrial areas, or as they are called in Cloud Imperium, "islands". Also in Lorville they redesigned the lighting to create the illusion of life, especially at night. In its announcement, the developers said that some areas may become race tracks for future competitions, and the houses have been given a realistic scale to then design the interiors and allow them to explore. The release date of update 3.19 is still unknown, but there is a consensus among fans that it will be released as early as May.
