Free demo version of Arkheron now available
Bonfire Studio has opened access to its multiplayer game Arkheron about heroes' adventures in a dark fantasy universe. The demo can be downloaded from Steam for free, and the servers will remain operational, according to the developers, until March 2. The main focus in gameplay is on the characters' abilities to find and use various items on the map that change the combat style. Moreover, the action takes place in a constantly changing world that combines PvP and PvE mechanics. Let's tell you more about this unusual novelty.
What makes Arkheron interesting compared to other free online games?

The isometric perspective and dark fantasy theme bring to mind the Diablo series, where heroes also exterminate monsters from a top-down view. Only here there are many more characters — 15 teams of three participants each. All groups must climb up through the dungeon levels, collect loot, and finally battle each other at the top location. The path taken is never repeated thanks to procedural generation of the map and AI-controlled enemies. Also, the loot available in the dungeons changes from one raid to another — relics that can enhance fighters and influence their tactical capabilities. The higher you manage to climb, the more powerful items will appear in your equipment and the more difficult it will be for your opponents in the final battle.
The gamers' task is complicated by timers counting down the time to complete each stage, and the need for class synergy within teams. The developers particularly emphasize the importance of sound: often an enemy is heard before becoming visible. They also mention a peak progression point when you unlock level five abilities, but this makes character evolution irreversible — you won't be able to redistribute skills or change equipment again. After March 2, when the free demo servers are shut down, users will be able to sign up for beta testing and continue their adventures in the fairy-tale world.
