League of Legends Classic has been announced
Riot Games has officially announced that it will release a classic version of its MOBA game, which needs no special introduction among Russian gamers. After all, it was LoL that became the main competitor to Dota 2 here. In short, the Classic edition will include the original version of the "League" and several dozen characters well known to old fans. Nevertheless, the developers held back the details until the conclusion of the next tournament, which will last until July 11 of this year.
What is known about League of Legends Classic at the moment?

In a trailer recreating the famous Pepe Silvia scene from the TV series "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," the developers discuss what LoL fans would want. Some fondly remember the first season, while others prefer the fourth. The MOBA has changed significantly depending on the updates released, but it would benefit from a return to the old concepts that formed the basis of the game from the moment of its release. In search of that very "true League of Legends," Riot Games employees decided not to reinvent the wheel, but simply to release the original with all the technical and graphical improvements accumulated over more than 16 years.
There are rumors that ultimately gamers will be offered the very first Summoner's Rift map, original items and runes, basic account leveling mechanics, as well as a roster of sixty-plus characters to choose from before matches. There is no exact data on what exactly the project will look like after the release of the Classic version. However, this will become known on the 11th of next month, when the results of the MSI 2026 tournament are tallied.
