Snowballs instead of shells in World of Sea Battle

Studio Thera Interactive has presented an update for its online game about sailing fleet battles. The developers have already added two new ships to World of Sea Battle, a heavy battleship and a frigate, and on December 23 a holiday event dedicated to the New Year will begin. Its participants will be able to load cannons with snowballs and fire them at special targets to earn prizes. This activity will last until January 10 — we'll tell you about it in more detail.

Let's start with the fleet novelties. The frigate «Iberia» is distinguished by its speed and sturdy hull. Almost 40 guns are installed on board, including ten falconets, and the crew consists of 140 sailors. In history, there were indeed ships with this name, but they were already steam-powered. For example, in 1855 the French government used the steamboat «Iberia» to deliver Spanish mule drivers to Crimea for participation in the Crimean War (1853-1856). The fourth-rate battleship «Three Hierarchs», in turn, surpasses the frigate by more than 200 durability points, but is inferior to it in speed. On board are 152 crew members and 37 guns. The real ship of the line, after which the game one was modeled, had twice as many barrels, and it also sailed under the Russian flag and participated in the Russo-Turkish War of 1768-1774.

From December 23, gamers will be able to load artillery with snowballs and go into battle with special NPCs — «Sea Elves». As soon as you shoot down such a ship, you will be able to find gifts in its hold. When trying to throw a snowball at an opponent in a regular match, you will simply «plaster» the opponent's screen with snow, but will not deal any damage to them. The new type of ammunition is effective only against elves. Also, battles with them will allow you to earn sea skates, which can then be exchanged for valuable items from overseas traders. These same skates can also be obtained for other activities — such as fishing, treasure hunting using maps, and completing quests.
