Technical test for the online shooter Marathon starts soon

The game is being developed by Bungie, a studio well known to the public, as its employees created Halo and Destiny. Since 2022, they have been working on reviving one of their classic shooters called «Marathon». The game is planned as a multiplayer extraction shooter in first-person view — like Escape from Tarkov, but in a science-fiction setting. Anyone who wants to personally find out what the Marathon project is like can sign up for closed alpha testing, which will run from October 22 to 28.

Since work on the shooter is entering the home stretch, Bungie specialists need help from ordinary gamers — and registration for the test has already started. To become one of the chosen, you need to go to the official website and fill out a special form there, specifying your gaming platform and contact details. If you only have a PC, keep in mind that applications from Steam account owners will begin to be accepted on October 13. For the testing period, five characters, three maps, and a trial version of in-match chat are promised. It is known that invitations will be sent out in waves until the end of the current month, and if you haven't received a response to your application, wait — perhaps it will be processed a little later.

The game takes place in the distant future on an abandoned colony in the Tau Ceti system. The ruined world is ill-suited for humans, but robots can easily operate there — and gamers play exactly their roles. Battles between teams of synthetics unfold either on the planet's surface or aboard the derelict ship «Marathon», which drifts in the sky. The latter location is more dangerous than the rest, but the reward for exploring it is high. At the end of the raid, as is customary in the genre, all heroes must leave the level at a specially designated point.
