Funcom employees are ready to present the MMO game Dune: Awakening based on Frank Herbert's science fiction books to the public. Since the game is almost ready, its closed beta testing is scheduled for the weekend of May 9-12, and to participate, you just need to leave an application in the Steam store. To heat up the expectations of the public, the developers released a video dedicated to the plot of the future novelty. In this video you can notice the design of some objects of the game universe (including the Guild liner) and pay attention to the motivation of the heroes.

What to expect from Dune: Awakening in the near future?

Despite the postponement of the release to June 10, the Funcom team is full of enthusiasm. They have already planned the biggest test of the game since its announcement. According to the developers, people have submitted a huge number of applications - and their reception continues. The ZBT will last from the ninth to the twelfth of next month and will give everyone access to the first 20 hours of story progression, as well as to the open world of Arrakis. In addition to the standard application, there is another way: turn on May 10 official broadcast and get one of the tens of thousands of keys that will be distributed to all viewers for free.

As for the story taking place in the world of "Dune," fans already know about the quest for the Freemen as the main motive. But the recently published trailer reveals other details: in particular, your protagonist will act as an agent of the Bene Gesserit sisters - apparently, they are thus checking how their "Missionary Protectiva" works, planting superstitions among the local population. The prophecy about Lysan al-Ghaib does get a lot of attention in the video, only here, unlike in the books and movies, it's the character under your control, not Paul Atreides, who becomes the chosen one. Among the interesting things are the design of the worm bait and a demonstration of a nuclear explosion ("rock-burn") due to a laser beam hitting a force field.
