Six against one in Marvel Rivals
The studio NetEase Games presented an update for its superhero online action game. Now in Marvel Rivals the Path to Doomsday mode is available, where a lone wolf with enhanced abilities opposes an entire squad, whose composition is inspired by stories about the Avengers. The patch also includes an in-game show at the Times Square location, a virtual photo zone, the «Chrono Rush» event, the «Overthrown Boss» emote, and a number of gameplay fixes. Details — below.
What makes the Path to Doomsday update interesting for Marvel Rivals?
The asymmetric mode offers to fight as Loki against a group of heroes. Battles are available in two variants: the opponents of the god of mischief can choose a six-person Avengers team for themselves, as in the comics or movies (Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, and Hawkeye), or assemble a team of the same size from other characters, whichever they prefer. In any case, the squad's success depends on the use of the basic skills of its members, whereas Loki receives some enhancements. He is immediately equipped with 3500 health points, an energetic «Lord's Strike», the ability to create illusions and become invisible, teleportation, and «Puppet Strings». The latter skill allows taking control of one of the opponents.
On the other hand, the hero squad has only the fighters' basic abilities and one ultimate ability for all — the summoning of the Hulk Monster, which will work even if Bruce Banner is already on the team. In anticipation of the release of the next film from the «Marvel» cinematic universe, a couple of activities started in the game. You can head to Times Square to watch the most memorable moments from the «Avengers», or take a picture in a specially decorated photo zone — a bonus is awarded for this.
