The kodan race will be added to Guild Wars 3

While the third installment of the fantasy MMORPG series is still in development, ArenaNet studio staff are sharing information about the upcoming release with the public. This time, the discussion touched upon a fairy-tale race well known to GW2 fans. The kodan — human-like intelligent bears, known for their piety and obedience to the Voices, whom they elect to govern their society. However, that part of the furry people who settled in Orr is distinguished by a more rebellious character.

One of the most recognizable peoples of Tyria will return to gamers with the release of GW3, but in a somewhat unusual role. While their kinsmen worshipped Koda the Creator, who created Tyria and then began to dictate his will through the Voices, the bear-people from the island of Janthir rejected the traditional faith of their ancestors and became known as apostates. Over time, Koda was eventually heard by some chosen ones — the Voice called them to explore the land of Orr, where the plot of the third game in the series will unfold. And since the kodan are distinguished by their strength and ferocity in battle, no enemy could prevent them from reaching their goal. Upon arriving at the location, the bears met magical beings called Vael and befriended them.

Gamers will find the Orr kodan at that stage of their society's development when many of them have sworn allegiance to the banner of Vaelwarden, but feel that the hopes placed on this mission will not be justified. Your hero, when choosing this race, will find themselves at a crossroads. If the first steps at the start of the plot must be taken under the wing of the Order of the Vael, then subsequent events will allow you to act at your own discretion.
