PUBG will soon become an extraction shooter

The fashion for «battle royales» is gradually fading. Therefore, the publishers of one of the most popular games in the genre are now looking at new formats. It recently became known that the company Krafton is preparing to release an evacuation shooter, which has been given the name Black Budget. Its release is tentatively scheduled for 2026, but access to alpha testing will open in December — to participate, you need to leave an application on the shooter's page in the Steam store.

The view in the new game will be only first-person. Gamers will take on the role of contractors hired by a company to investigate a mysterious island affected by a natural anomaly. Fighters will need to infiltrate a research center and extract from it everything that has any value, including documents on the results of scientific experiments, weapons, and artifacts. Clearly, rivalry will arise between the heroes, as each will want to get the best loot and leave with it to a safe place. In addition to opponents controlled by live players, PvE elements are promised, since the island is an anomalous environment where absolutely anything can happen.

Between battles, users are free to devote time to developing their personal base to improve the equipment and skills of their characters. The raid duration is promised to be 30 minutes, teams of up to three people with 45 participants in a single match, and the game will also add a «battle royale» mechanic: the anomaly during the session will gradually reduce the combat zone, which will force gamers to act more actively. The open alpha starts as early as December 12 and will last until the 21st. To get into the select group, it is enough to submit a standard application form without signing an NDA, but you must have a computer with a graphics card at least at the RTX 2060 level.
