A Call of Duty movie is in the works

Adaptations of popular video games are currently in vogue — just recall the new «Mortal Kombat» films with Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, the recent «Minecraft» movie, or the press reports about director Christophe Gans returning to work on «Silent Hill». Now, filmmakers have reached the gold standard of first-person military shooters. The adaptation will be handled by none other than Paramount Studios, known for hits like «Transformers», «Iron Man», «Interstellar», and «Mission: Impossible».

The production of a film based on the shooter series has been officially confirmed by representatives of Paramount Pictures. This was reported by The Hollywood Reporter, among others. However, it remains unclear who exactly will helm the project, whether iconic characters like Captain Price will appear, or which game cycle will serve as the basis for the script (whether it will be Black Ops, Modern Warfare, or even the battle royale Warzone). The studio has only stated that the project aims to delight the massive global fanbase by staying true to the original.

Nevertheless, the filmmakers assure that the movie will attract newcomers unfamiliar with the CoD universe and its individual installments. Paramount CEO David Ellison has already called the production of such a film a dream come true. It is known that some representatives from the game publisher Activision will be involved in the filming to ensure the plot and direction align with the canon. Of course, no specific timelines or release dates have been announced yet.
