Online pirate game Windrose sets records
A pirate adventure survival simulator, developed by a team from Uzbekistan, has climbed to the top of the Steam rankings. While the project Windrose initially gathered around 70,000 concurrent connections at launch, its current player count has now exceeded 200,000 and continues to grow. Additionally, the game's developers announced that they've sold one million copies in just six days since release. All this is happening alongside the release of patches that fix bugs and add missing content.
What's currently happening with Windrose?

«Windrose» has given fans of maritime romance everything they could dream of: sailing adventures, treasure hunts on uninhabited islands, battles with legendary monsters, all complemented by building their own pirate fortresses. And all of this with multiplayer where you can invite friends. Naturally, such a spectacular debut has gathered numerous positive reviews from users, but the Kraken Express studio team isn't resting on their laurels — they still have much work ahead: the game needs significant polishing and refinement. The latest patch serves as proof of this.
Since gamers from different regions experienced multiplayer issues, the Kraken Express team added a server selection menu and made sure available connections are visible to users. Additionally, they've implemented flexible Direct IP support and fixed issues with save files in Steam Cloud — now a special system duplicates synchronization to prevent data loss. Finally, they've fixed various bugs, such as the inability to join lobbies if the Windows account name contains non-Unicode characters, issues with grass rendering distance, and HDR display problems.
