Old-school vibes: DashFire is out on Steam

Блог
Have you played old-school arena shooters like Quake III with friends in a while? Today, a group of independent developers offers a fun shootout without any purchases, as DashFire is available for free on Steam. The shooter doesn't support Russian, but it has everything else needed for good entertainment, including level selection, matchmaking for up to eight players, and even a text chat feature.

What makes the free shooter DashFire interesting?

Shooting with bunny-hopping, running in circles around the arena, launching off ramps, falling into pits, picking up weapons on the go, and simple 3D graphics—everything here looks like action games from over twenty years ago. Only this is a new release stylized as a classic. The game currently features only two maps, but it has a server browser and the ability to create custom matches for up to eight connections. So, nothing stops you from inviting seven friends and reliving the heated battles of 1990s computer clubs. And you don't even need a modern PC for such a shooter.

Among the interesting features is an in-game text chat, though who might need it during a shootout? There's also a weapon selection ranging from classic machine guns and pistols to original options like a baseball bat. The project has just exited beta testing and been fully released on the digital store, and it's completely free to join. Reviews so far are positive, though few in number.
