Destiny 2 update is delayed but not canceled

Fans of Bungie's sci-fi shooter are awaiting the next major update for Destiny 2 after «Renegades» — «Shadow and Order», which will introduce new quests, cosmetic changes, and gameplay improvements. Initially, the developers had chosen March 3rd as the release date, but the premiere had to be postponed due to a wave of criticism directed at the studio's employees. Users are complaining about the lack of content in recent major expansions and insufficient attention to what the industry calls «quality of life.»

Why is Destiny 2: Shadow and Order being delayed?

It would seem that December's «Renegades» was an example of an excellent expansion — the DLC was created in collaboration with the authors of «Star Wars», adding familiar Star Wars costumes and weapon designs. But mere visual changes weren't enough for the public — gamers demanded deeper development of the project, including the addition of missions and modes. This is why Bungie's management decided not to rush the release of Shadow and Order and postponed the release from March to June 9, 2026. Additionally, according to official information, the title «Shadow and Order» will be changed to something else by summer — what exactly remains unknown.

There's another circumstance interfering with the spring premiere. We're talking about the new extraction shooter Marathon, which is also being produced by Bungie specialists and is set to appear in stores this spring. Serious changes have already been announced for the second Destiny update: a new weapon enhancement mechanic will appear, as well as different equipment for raids and dungeons, «Pantheon 2.0» and fresh characteristics for exotic fifth-level armor. Of course, bugs that occurred during the preparation of previous updates will also be fixed.
