New details and release date of Marathon

Studio Bungie, known worldwide thanks to the Halo and Destiny series, is currently reviving one of its old projects in the form of an extraction shooter Marathon. To stir up public interest, the developers released a video diary where they talked about the current stage of game development, roughly defined the release date and shared gameplay recordings with fans. It turned out that such a brightly designed shooter actually contains many dark moments, and its authors emphasize that their creativity is largely influenced by feedback from ordinary users.

As we know from previous announcements, the game's action takes place in the distant future. Earthlings sent the ship «Marathon» into deep space, but communication with it was lost when it reached one of the planets in the Tau Ceti system. To investigate this incident, people connect to the cybernetic shells of Runners of six classes and go deep into the dead colony, guarded by OCSZ machines. Runners need to collect loot alone or as part of a team, fend off robots and other agents controlled by gamers, and then find a safe exit from the map. Problems are also created by the unpredictable environment — on an alien planet, anything can happen to the heroes. But improving equipment with each match will help avoid traps.

The release of Marathon is scheduled for March next year, and the game is immediately declared paid. Judging by its page on Steam, full Russian localization is promised, including translation of character speech. A one-time purchase gives the user access to free DLC for a year, which will definitely include new maps, Runner shells, battle passes and other activities. At the start, three zones will appear on the surface of Tau Ceti IV and one location inside the «Marathon» — the «Cryoarchive». In addition, a system of progress in relations with corporations issuing raid orders has been announced.
