A new era has begun in The Finals
Despite the fact that Embark Studios managed to release a real hit in the form of the extraction shooter ARC Raiders, the Swedish developers have not forgotten about their previous projects. For the online shooter, designed as a futuristic show with spectators, they created a 'medieval-magical' mode, introduced changes to ranked matches, a battle pass, a reward store, an 'Academy,' and much more. And all of this can be tried for free as part of the tenth season, titled Fantasy League.
What's interesting about the Fantasy League season in The Finals?
The new arena 'Star Hollow' sends opposing teams to something resembling a medieval hamlet, where heroes walk around in the attire of knights, jesters, and mages, shooting at each other with bows and fencing with swords. Here, the new fighter class, proficient in acrobatics and wielding the rapid-fire crossbow 'Chimera,' will be in full swing. Additionally, opponents can exchange fireballs—such projectiles not only harm and knock back the enemy but also disarm traps. The new map offers battles in several modes, including 'On the Crest of the Wave' and 'Team Deathmatch.'
On all levels, not just in 'Hollow,' a floating platform has become available—an interactive object that allows creating elevated positions anywhere, even in the middle of a flat square. The developers continued the coin experiment started in the ninth season—they can now be earned and spent on colorful skins in the reward store. Even the sponsor system has undergone some changes: to receive special rewards, you only need to sign a contract with one of the companies, which now includes ALFA ACTA.
Newcomers have access to a series of lessons combined into the 'Academy' cycle, while experienced gamers are treated to interface improvements and individual mechanics. In particular, the 'Ping Wheel' has been updated, the match overview screen has been improved, and the balance of ranked battles has finally been adjusted. From now on, users with a large difference in skill level cannot team up.
