The open beta test for PUBG: Blindspot has begun
Probably every gamer in the world knows about the «battle royale» PUBG: Battlegrounds. Recently, a spin-off was announced for the famous online shooter — a top-down multiplayer shooter. The rules of Blindspot more closely resemble Counter-Strike: two teams operate on a compact level, employing tactical maneuvers inside buildings with limited visibility. Meanwhile, Krafton employees announced that support for the main game on previous-generation consoles (such as PlayStation 4) has now been discontinued.
What is currently known about PUBG: Blindspot?

Matches involve two teams of five players each. One group plays defensively, while the other attacks the location to hack a device called Crypt. If the attacking side succeeds, they will edge closer to victory. The arsenal here is almost the same as in the «battle royale», only the view is not from the third or first person but from above, as in turn-based XCOM. On one hand, this perspective simplifies tactical planning, but on the other, it adds some inconveniences. For example, switching the firing level (headshots and body shots) will require pressing a separate key.
The shooter features several modes, including five-minute matches without rounds, where the goal is to be the first to score 30 frags. Currently, a free demo version of Blindspot is available on Steam to try out the game's core mechanics. This also serves as a form of beta testing — developers will actively collect user feedback and fix bugs. The most active participants will receive rewards. This event will last until September 2.
