Interesting announcements from RuneScape Summit 2026

Jagex has just concluded a conference dedicated to the universe of the MMORPG RuneScape. Many intriguing announcements were made during the event. In addition to an updated version of the original game, the developers are preparing a brand-new project on the Unreal Engine, and they also announced the production of an animated series, details of which will only become known in 2027. That said, Gielinor will present plenty of surprises to its inhabitants even before the animated show appears.

To create the animated series, Jagex will join forces with Lyrical Animation and Meatier Productions. Such a franchise expansion comes as no surprise — a book series based on the game has existed for a long time, so why not cartoons? Another important piece of news is, in fact, an improvement to the MMORPG itself, titled Reignited. It is no secret that the project has aged, so it was decided to polish and rework it at a deep level. Gamers will see the first result of these efforts as early as December 2, when the Remastering the early player journey update, that is, an improved introductory part of the adventure, will be uploaded to the servers. Along with the visuals, the mechanics will be refined, including the role-playing system and character development.

But the announcement of the development of a new game in the RuneScape series is of particular interest — it will become the fourth one. The working title of the project is RS4. It is already known that the action will unfold in the same world of Gielinor, and the plot will continue familiar stories from the classic releases. The events correspond to the Sixth Age, while the adventure begins in the familiar location of Ashenfall. Nevertheless, fans will have to wait a few more years for the full release.
