The main theme of "Black Sun" is the apocalypse. The plot tells us that once every hundred years the light of the sun fades and the forces of darkness awaken. Only true heroes can pave the way through the darkness and curses. And to defeat their enemies, supporters of good get their hands on 27 new cards - four for each faction plus three neutrals: Renfree, her gang, and the wizard Eltibald. Specifically, Skellige's deck got the epic Bjorn Stormursson, Nilfgaard's ceremonial master adds infusions to two golden units, and the Kingdoms of the North got a peek at a knight capable of boosting by 1 point for each adjacent boosted card and dealing damage dependent on the damage taken by neighbors.

As for the new mechanics, there are three: "Infusion" - adding an effect, a one-time "Grace" in case a squad exceeds its nominal characteristics, and "Clash" - a mutual strike of two squads. The main game is still free - anyone can freely download it for PC or mobile platforms from GOG, Steam, Google Play, or the App Store. But the developers are asking money for the Black Sun premium set - a whopping $25. In addition to instant access to all the cards, the set opens up the Sands of Time field to the user.
