The Game Awards 2024's top online games
This night was a ceremony with awards for outstanding achievements in the gaming industry. Astro Bot became the main release of the year according to the jury's voting results (although the public voted for Black Myth Wukong), League of Legends authors received the winged statuette in the Cybersport category, and the award for the most interesting multiplayer was given to the developers of Helldivers 2. Everything was expected here, but the TGA show is interesting not only for prize distribution. There were also some announcements made during the event, which are worth talking more about.
What was shown at The Game Awards 2024?
Some presentations caused a storm of emotions - what is worth only one trailer of the fourth part of "The Witcher", where we have to take control of the matured Cyrille. But let's pay more attention to online games. The first interesting project in the list is a multiplayer immersive sim from the authors of Deus Ex - Thick As Thieves. Here there will be several characters to choose from, who receive the same task. And then everyone acts on his own, relying only on the abilities of the chosen hero to get the treasure and become the winner.
The creators of the kung fu action movie Sifu also made a surprise appearance. They showed at the ceremony a multiplayer soccer simulator Re/Match, where each of the athletes is controlled by a separate gamer. The fantasy action-RPG Elden Ring will feature a new cooperative mode called Nightreign, which will be released separately from the main game. In it, the company of three friends must pass the map with monsters and obstacles. But the cutest announcement of the ceremony was the MMO game about cats Catly. Its authors promise an open world, customization of furry, adventure and release in 2025, but do not give any more details.
Fans of online shooters will not be bored either. In March 2025 Killing Floor 3 will be released, and later Borderlands 4 with the traditional set of four heroes will be available. During the show Digital Extremes announced the release of Warframe: 1999, where the events are transferred from the space future to the alternative end of the XX century. The turn came to session cooperative action games - they showed gameplay of Den of Wolves. This is a game from the authors of Payday 2 and GTFO.
