Scary, knock it out! Ghostwire: Tokyo gameplay and release date
For a long time there was no news about the new project of Tango Gameworks studio, which is responsible for The Evil Within's prologue. But the silence was finally broken. The developers shared the Ghostwire: Tokyo storyline, told about the protagonist and gameplay details, and also announced the release date. Apparently, this is a very unusual action-thriller - even by Japanese standards.
The world of the game is the city of Tokyo, overrun by ghosts. The catastrophe is caused by the villain Hannya, who has captured the souls of the inhabitants of the Japanese capital. For some mysterious reason, the spell did not work on a boy named Akito - now he must become a hunter of monsters and alone to deal with evil. At the same time the hero frees people from the clutches of demons. But the most interesting thing about Ghostwire: Tokyo is exactly how this process is organized. Here there are no battles in the traditional sense: to fight ghosts the hero uses magic, draws runes in the air with his hands, uses the powers of the elements and the amulets found in the streets. The action abounds with various characters of folklore, from yokai spirits to zashiki-warashi, or, to put it our way, house-dwellers.
Shinji Mikami, the author of Resident Evil and The Evil Within series, is in charge of development. But unlike his previous works, Ghostwire: Tokyo looks much less violent. The game will be released on March 25, 2022 and will be available on PC and PlayStation 5 consoles.
