EVE Online will receive a major expansion in June

CCP Games announced the Cradle of War expansion for its MMO space battle simulator EVE Online. Players will gain access to a beginner combat location, a sort of retrospective mode where they can participate in legendary battles of the past, as well as new ship types. The developers themselves emphasize that the summer update will only heat up passions and expand the war across all of New Eden, so fleets need to prepare for a massive confrontation.

The expansion will release on June 9 and make the confrontation between empires more intense, as not only combat ship pilots, but also builders, logistics, and traders will be drawn into the process. Beginners who are not yet concerned with such conflicts will also have something to do, as they will be opened a "sandbox" on the map for development and testing skills — PvP will be prohibited here, but making friends will be easy. Only after gaining experience will capsuleers be able to choose one of the military campaigns to participate in: each of such missions unfolds in a specific sector of New Eden and leads to the defeat or domination of a particular empire. The more people join the alliance leading the campaign, the higher the chances of success.

New types of spaceships will help in achieving goals, among which it is worth noting ships of the Command Carrier and Navy Destroyer classes. The former can support up to three command modules, giving a squadron with such a vessel strong tactical bonuses. The latter are notable for their relatively low price, high power, and versatility — they are convenient to use in both PvP and PvE. Those wishing to study the history of the struggle for space will be able to take part in the reconstruction of the most significant clashes. Finally, titles and achievements from June will be permanently assigned to capsuleers.
