Gamers following Valve's work know that the company is currently busy working on the hero MOBA shooter Deadlock, which has been in beta testing for over a year. Although the final release date of the game has not yet been determined, it receives patches from time to time — and the latest one turned out to be quite substantial. In it, test participants are introduced to six new characters, the Street Brawl mode, and map changes. The update is titled «Old Gods, Fresh Blood» — let's take a closer look at it.

Old Gods, New Blood in Deadlock — what's changed?

The list of heroes is opened by the agile fencer Apollo. In the game's universe, he is a representative of the noble Ixia family, and among his skills, hand-to-hand combat techniques, lunges, and aerial dashes are worth noting. The haughty Celeste calls upon patrons for assistance to enhance her attacks. And the amusing creature named Rem was created for service, but over time it became self-aware and wanted to gain independence. Modest size and mobility make Rem a difficult target for the enemy. Silver is a female werewolf with a rifle, seeking revenge on her enemies for past grievances. The set also includes the necromancer Graves and Priest — an exorcist from New York who can both shoot and cast spells.

In Street Brawl, you'll find short 4v4 matches. The confrontation is played to three wins, with rounds lasting two minutes each. The unique battle condition is that at the start, participants are given three items from a random set in their inventory. At the same time, the conditions are equal for both teams, and there's no need to constantly farm creeps as is customary in MOBAs. The developers report that in addition to these changes, they've improved the behavior of AI-controlled mobs, finalized the interface including a new design for all numerical indicators, and enhanced ballistics while adding more details to the locations.
