The Beacon add-on has been released for No Man's Sky
It would seem that everything is already available in the space simulator by Hello Games. And the boundless universe, which can't be explored even in a lifetime, and resource extraction with construction, and multiplayer to inhabit distant planets with friends. But the developers still found the mechanics, which was not there before. Now NMS is also a city-building game. It allowed to own not only bases, but also whole settlements, improving buildings and controlling inhabitants.

With the game's upgrade to version 5.7, users can now build entire planetary empires. These cities contain an updated set of buildings, including bars, for example, and residents with individual needs, so that the streets do not seem empty. You can take control of up to four such colonies, setting up a special economy in each. One of them can be just a base, while the other one can be used for resource production. Upgrades are now available for each building, but they are also subject to destruction, so you need to hire special NPC squads to protect your possessions. Finally, as mayor, you are free to settle disputes arising in the community under your control.
But all this requires investment, and on top of that you have to keep track of a number of parameters, including the happiness of the inhabitants, the degree of their defense, the growth of the number of colonists, buildings and products. In general, the gameplay resembles Citybuilder, with bonuses like festivals with fireworks. At the same time, you don't have to build cities yourself - from now on there are settlements of robot autophages in space, built from scrap and crystals. After opening such outposts and making friends with their inhabitants, any gamer can become their manager.
