Here we go again: the creator of Ultima wants to release another game
Richard Garriot, known to MMORPG fans as Lord British - the author of Ultima series, started another daring project. At the bottom of the ocean and in space, he has already been, so now he returned to his favorite occupation. Already known and the name of the game, Iron and Magic, and its rules, and even the fact that its users will be able to become owners of NFT - non-exchangeable tokens.
What is currently known about Iron and Magic
When the game was first reported, its codename was Effigy. Now the project got its own website, which shows some of the characters, monsters and terrain objects. Best of all, in the world of Iron and Magic is already possible to acquire land holdings in the form of NFT, although the release date is still unknown. About the mechanics of the new MMORPG developer said that it will be a sandbox with different biomes, mini-games, magic and the ability to host parties.
Besides Richard Garriot, other names on the list of creators are Chris Spears from Catnip Games, Todd Porter and Shane Zhu. In case anyone isn't aware, this isn't the first attempt for the famous Lord British to create a meta-universe with NFT. Back in 2013, he was raising money on Kickstarter for a similar game Shroud of the Avatar, but then the undertaking failed - not so much because of the gameplay, but because of problems in the studio. Perhaps this time the reputation of Ultima's author will serve the development team well.
